The True Purpose of Homeschooling: 4 Pillars of Purpose for Every Homeschooler

May 11, 2026

What is the true purpose of homeschooling? It is a valid question. Often, the answer can become drowned out by many voices and noise within the homeschooling community. Truthfully, as homeschooling continues to grow, voices and opinions grow louder. At Nxt Era, we’re grateful that the homeschool space is growing, but we realize the true purpose of homeschooling needs to be defined. We can look at four sole reasons for homeschooling.

  • Raising authentic children.
  • Creating a well-rounded educational experience.
  • Growing as a parent.
  • Cultivating strong children.

4 Pillars of Purpose

First of all, the entire point of homeschooling involves your child. Subsequently, it comes from a need to raise authentic children. As a homeschool graduate myself, I know the beauty and importance of homeschooling. I am grateful for my homeschooling experience for so many reasons, but one main reason is that I know homeschooling brought me unto myself. I found confidence in my nature and my unique interests.

Your children can have this same experience. They can find their own interests and sense of self. They can find freedom in learning about themselves through their homeschooling experience and realize that they can find confidence in their authenticity.

Next, homeschooling calls on parents to create a well-rounded educational experience. Parents should pull their child out of school because they want something different than what the system offers. This well-rounded experience calls parents to spend intentional time with their child and let their child explore the world around them. In addition, encourage your homeschooler to explore subjects like science, art, history, and more. These subjects foster knowledge to help your homeschooler live in the world.

Continuing, the true purpose of homeschooling should help you grow as a parent. You should learn alongside your child. This involves growing mentally, physically, and spiritually. You should find yourself pushing yourself past your limits to achieve your dreams as a homeschool parent.

Finally, we need to cultivate strong children. In our current world, we need strong homeschoolers. Children who are street-smart and have a backbone. These children need to stand firm in confidence and feel secure in themselves. As a parent, you can demonstrate these strong habits and show your children how you walk forward with confidence.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the true purpose of homeschooling comes from the family’s growth. A well-rounded education calls children to learn from pages and people. It requires children to grow in themselves as well as their parents. As you begin or continue your homeschooling journey, remember these four pillars and move forward with confidence. Gird yourselves in confidence and growth. We believe in you, homeschool parent.
