7 Tips to Combat Our Fast-paced Culture
Nov 28, 2025Do you feel as if you become stuck in our performance-based culture? Where is your love of learning and culture? Maybe your children even feel this way. Your life truly becomes a day-to-day hustle culture, and the beauty of life seems to slip away. So many people can relate to these questions. We want time to authentically learn and live slowly in this fast-paced world. We recently interviewed Julie Bogart. Ms. Bogart is an author and creator of Brave Writer. She recommends a few things to survive in this stagnant culture. To summarize her key thoughts, she said:
- We need to partake in art.
- We need to free write.
- We need to learn.
- We need to openly communicate.
- We need to try new hobbies.
- We need to study Charlotte Mason.
- We need to experience life.
Reconstruct the System
Our social media-obsessed, goal-oriented culture can take away our joy. It’s quite easy to become caught in the rat race of life. We go to work, teach our kids, and get ready for the next day. That can be exhausting. Perhaps you miss reading a good book or spending time outside.
Now, you should reconstruct your mindset. Bring cultural experiences back into your life. Read a book even if it means that you must wake up a bit earlier. Practice free writing or journaling to put your thoughts on paper. Go outside and have a study day with your kids in the outdoors. Pick a Saturday to go to a new town and experience something new. Try a new hobby while your kids study.
The True Facts
Personally, I think we live in a society that doesn’t want us to learn. In the public school system, we witness children who hate learning. Many of these kids despise reading books or solving puzzles because it’s all based on grades and performance-based learning.
On the other hand, people who learn have power. Homeschoolers cultivate a different mindset since our lifestyle is different, and we push forward by learning. If we think outside the box, we’re immediately labeled as weird.
At the end of the day, I need to be true to myself, no matter if people think I’m weird. I need to experience art, new ideas, and cultural changes to feel alive. If I go to a new town and see the sights, I remember my life isn’t the only one in motion. If I see a play or musical, I feel immersed in art. Art and new experiences broaden our worldview. People like Charlotte Mason or Ms. Bogart can help us learn new things and expand our mindset. Expanding our mindsets can help us communicate openly as well.
Conclusion/Be Weird
All these tips can help you expand your mind and experience life. Step out of the 9-5 hustle and take a breath. Help your kids see the beauty in learning and learn for yourself. Set yourself apart from the breakneck speed of our culture. You don’t have to be enslaved.
You can choose freedom. You can experience art, literature, and new places to broaden your mindset. Trust me, this sets me free. Don’t feel entrapped by the digital age. Look to your new hobbies, cultural experiences, or free writing to help you stand apart. Don’t be afraid to look a little weird.
