5 Ways to Restart Your Life and Start Homeschooling

Mar 06, 2026

Have you ever wondered if there's something more? Something different than the rat race of public school life? Maybe you’re also concerned for your child. Our children are much more aware of the news because of social media. They also have access to harmful content online. Also, the school system is failing them; we can see this through declining literacy rates and major bullying issues.

Maybe you’ve reached a point where you’re worried for your child and also worn out from the hustle of life as a public school parent.

Well, I’m here to tell you. There’s a different life out there, waiting for YOU. You can choose a different path for you and your child.

  • Pull them out of school.
  • Read together.
  • Experience life.
  • Have open conversations.
  • Give yourself a new start.

The Restart Routine

First, get them out of school! Take them out of that government-controlled education system. This removes them from a toxic learning environment, where bullying runs rampant, and grades create “worth.” Get them outta there and bring them home! See our other blog posts about deschooling and transitioning from the public school system.

Next, spend time reading together. To combat dropping literacy rates, read a lot. Read aloud together and encourage your child to read on their own. Reading develops empathy, new perspectives, critical thinking skills, and creativity. This is a vital skill for our children.

Also, have open conversations with your child. Don’t discourage them with the news, but gently enlighten them about topics to protect their safety and minds. This will help them use critical thinking and discernment. If old enough, they need to know about issues, such as bullying and declining literacy rates. I wouldn’t suggest having conversations about graphic or depressing topics. However, you can lightly introduce current issues to help them understand the world’s ways.

Finally, give yourself a new start as a parent. Let go of past shames and issues that keep you captive. Set down the burdens of your heart and give yourself grace if that is hard. Try to set these issues down and look at homeschooling as a new start for you and your kiddo. Give yourself grace as you transition, too. It’s okay not to know everything or feel overwhelmed. That’s all normal. You can do this. At Nxt Era, we believe in you.

Conclusion

In conclusion, unlock a new homeschooling journey for you and your kiddo. Allow this time to slow you down and find your calling as a homeschool parent. Find freedom in experiencing life with your homeschooler. First, though, pull them out of school. Read together and experience all life has to offer as a homeschool family. Remember to have (soft) open conversations and give yourself a new start.
