4 Ways to Teach Respect for America

Jun 29, 2026

How do we foster respect for our nation? As we approach our nation’s 250th birthday, we must teach our children the value of America. Of course, our nation isn’t perfect and has its failings.

However, we can still honor the great dreams of our forefathers and the countrymen and women who died for our nation. We can honor soldiers who gave their lives for our country and current service members who sacrifice every day for America.

  • Talk about our history.
  • Discuss our military.
  • Teach the American dream.
  • Use our Freedom 15 course.

America the Beautiful

Talk about our history. Talk about our forefathers and our Declaration of Independence. Discuss the Constitution and the Revolutionary War. Speak on the Civil War and the darkness of slavery. Talk about our part in the World Wars and discuss the merits of our nation in the 21st century. All these discussions can build in children critical thinking skills about America and a respect for it.

Next, discuss our military. Talk about the ultimate sacrifice that so many men and women have made for us. Discuss what service members give up to protect our nation. Our children must have esteem for our military as they give up everything–sometimes their lives–for the United States of America.

Also, teach the American dream. Talk about the beauties of our nation: the valleys, the hills, the flatlands, and the mountains. Discuss the differences in cultures and perspectives. Talk about how Americans can achieve their dreams, no matter where they come from. Through hard work and grit, we can succeed in anything!

Along that same idea, our founders, David and J, created a business course for high schoolers. This course walks 9th- to 12th-grade students through operating a business. In addition, each student will be paired with a mentor who runs a successful business. To keep students motivated and engaged, teens will compete for $10k in cash prizes.

Conclusion

In conclusion, although we live in an imperfect nation, we can teach our children to remain respectful and thankful for our nation. We must also show esteem for our military as they sacrifice greatly for us. Lastly, feel free to take a look at our course (linked below), as David and J designed it around the American dream.
