4 Steps to Improve Your Child’s Mental Health

Jan 14, 2026

Are you worried about your child’s mental health? Maybe they aren’t homeschooled, but you’re considering homeschooling for that reason. Do you worry about your child being under academic pressure or burning out? Maybe they’re being bullied. Maybe they seem to be the shell of the child that they used to be…Whatever the situation, it’s time to get them out of the school system.

How can you help your child’s mental state?

  • Remove them from the toxic school environment.
  • Show them the beauty of learning.
  • Allow them to deep dive into their interests.
  • Connect rather than stick to the status quo.

The Plan

According to the CDC in 2023, “20% reported seriously considering attempting suicide in the past year.” Personally, that percentage is far too high in my opinion. It’s concerning. What can we do to help with this crisis?

Here’s NxtEra’s battle plan to help the nxt generations:

Step 1: Remove them from the toxic school environment. The school environment forces kids to engage with bullies or serious peer pressure. Often, it does not welcome multigenerational communication because public schoolers only interact with people their own age. To remove them from this pressure cooker of an environment, simply do just that. Remove them!

Step 2: Show them the beauty of learning. After getting them out of the system, take time to “unschool.” Go to the library, watch a movie, head off to the park. Read books together or do a fun craft. Show them that learning doesn’t just take place under fluorescent lights in neat little rows.

Step 3: In addition, allow them to learn on their own. If they like LEGOs or Star Wars, encourage them to learn all they can about those subjects. Research histories or back stories. Read books or watch documentaries. Encourage them to read online articles about their favorite interests. If they like Jane Austen or splunking, encourage them in those areas.

Step 4: Focus on connection over “looking cool.” Often, parents can become caught up in the public school lifestyle even more so than their kids. If you pull your kids out of school, you might face backlash or look weird to others. Ignore it. Focus on the connection with your child and focus on their well-being. That’s more important than anything else.

Conclusion

In conclusion, take a look at your child. Do they seem off? Do they like public school? Ask them candid questions and open up a discussion. Then make a decision.

Apply these steps to help them feel better mentally. If they want to stay in school, maybe take some time to try homeschooling. Try it as an experiment and see if it works for your family.

Your child’s mental health is the most important thing. We believe in protecting the sanctity of their minds and practicing good health habits, which we promote in our Health pillar. Protect their minds = protect their health. Care for their minds = care for their health. As the parent, this is your responsibility and calling. We believe in you!
