4 Steps to Achieving Confidence as a Homeschool Parent

Dec 29, 2025

Do you want to homeschool, but you feel inadequate? Maybe you’re concerned about how you will teach math or science? What about homeschooling through high school? It can feel seriously overwhelming. Maybe you don’t have a college degree, and you feel incompetent. Don’t worry! You don’t need a slip of paper to teach your kids. My mom didn’t finish college and still successfully homeschooled me. You just need tenacity and encouragement. We believe in you, and we’ve provided some helpful tips below.

  • Discover.
  • Research.
  • Delegate.
  • Grow.

The Nxt Era Breakdown

How can you work on yourself to feel confident in teaching your children? We first recommend discovering how you learn. Are you an auditory learner? Are you a visual learner? Please see our blog post and resource on the 7 Learning Styles.

Take time to find a good curriculum that works for you. Study the different options and join different Facebook groups to see what other homeschool parents recommend. Feel free to create your own unit studies or a mishmash of curricula. Do what works for you and your family.

Also, research the homeschooling process. Read different books or listen to podcasts on the subject. Pick a homeschooling style that works for you. Maybe you would prefer a Charlotte Mason approach or an unschooling path. In addition, if you don’t understand a certain subject, research it and give yourself time to understand it.

Next, delegate. If you struggle, delegate teaching certain subjects. Delegate to family members. Join co-ops so others can teach your children. Feel free to offer your teaching abilities to other families, so you can fill each other’s cups and lift each other up.

Finally, grow. As mentioned, read books, watch YouTube videos, and listen to podcasts on the homeschooling subject. However, don’t forget to take care of yourself. Read fun books. Listen to podcasts or music that bring you joy. Watch movies or shows that make you think and feel.

Conclusion

Remember to give yourself grace. Practice these steps and enjoy the process of learning. You, too, can enjoy learning and discovering just like your homeschooler! Take time to develop these habits to strengthen your mind, which will then give you confidence in your abilities to homeschool.

You can do this! We believe in you. You can take back power, learn for yourself, and build confidence. This is a daily mindset and allow yourself to grow each day as you homeschool.
