4 Steps for Homeschooling High Schoolers with Confidence

Jun 08, 2026

Are you worried about the high school years as a homeschool parent? Are you worried about how you’ll manage homeschooling? It can feel overwhelming or as if you have to do it all, but you can do this, and you can ask for help. Remember that your homeschooler is now a high schooler, so that means they can help out more, too!

It’s simple: You can do this. At Nxt Era, we know you can do this because our parents homeschooled us through high school.

  • Remember your WHY.
  • Hire a homeschool coach or evaluator.
  • Enroll your homeschooler in dual enrollment or work experience.
  • Support their interests.

1, 2, 3, 4

Remember your WHY. Hold it fast to your heart and repeat it over and over in your mind. Look how far you have come. You decided to start homeschooling, and you made it. You can do hard things. Clutch your WHY tightly and make your mission.

Next, hire a homeschool coach or evaluator if you want extra support. Reach out to us at Nxt Era. If you’re homeschooling in a state that requires an evaluator, they will support you, too. You can contact us and also find additional support from your evaluator. We want to help you! Don’t feel embarrassed to ask for help.

Enroll your homeschooler in dual enrollment or work experience. This gives them time to gain credits and experience. Plus, you can work on other home-oriented tasks and/or high school homeschooling to-dos during their busy time.

Lastly, support your homeschooler’s interests, even if they’re unique. I’m utterly grateful for my parents’ support of my interests, especially in high school. This helped me transition to adulthood with confidence in myself. Although I received some teasing/subtle put-downs for my nerdy interests from others, I always knew my parents had my back and that what I loved was important. No matter what anyone else said!

Conclusion

In conclusion, stand firm in your resolve to homeschool through high school. Remember your WHY. Hire us at Nxt Era and use an evaluator (if required by state law). Enroll your homeschooler in dual enrollment college courses or work experience. This will build their resume and confidence! Also, support their interests. Not everyone will support their interests, but when you have their back, this changes the entire game. Trust me, I know.
