4 Steps for Career Preparation for Homeschoolers

Are you a homeschooler in high school, and are you concerned about how to prepare for a future career? Today, I’ve provided several steps to get started.

• Network with others.
• Utilize a trade school/community college or start your own business. 
• Build a resume.
• Foster communication and problem-solving skills.

Network!!! As a young person myself, I have learned the power of networking. It’s all in the people you know. Also, use social media as a tool to meet and connect with new people. LinkedIn is a prime example of this idea. Set up a LinkedIn account to connect with a wide range of people. 

Interestingly, I found Nxt Era through an Instagram ad. After following the Nxt Era account, David reached out to me with a friendly message about Nxt Era, and I asked if they were hiring. Obviously, the rest is history, as they say. That being said, leave no stone unturned because you have no idea where you will find a job. 

If you are unsure of a possible career path, utilize a trade school or community college. Enroll in a program or courses you would like. Experiment and see what catches your interest. In addition, David and J are HUGE proponents of starting your own business. Would you want to start a business? In fact, we will be releasing a new business course soon, so enroll yourself or your homeschooler in it. 

Next, start building your resume. Gain experience, where you can even if it’s unpaid/volunteer. Seek out mental skills (examples: communication, critical thinking, or problem-solving skills). Also, cultivate physical skills (examples: equipment operation, email writing, or social media content creation). Build that resume and find experience in your areas of interest. 

Lastly, as already mentioned, build those communication and problem-solving skills. On a personal level, these skills have helped me tremendously at Nxt Era. They give me confidence and determination in my work. Therefore, develop these skills and build confidence in your abilities. You are capable, homeschooler!

Conclusion

Working on these skills now can build a successful future. Cultivate and grow these skills, especially in high school, before you officially enter the adult world. That way, you’re ready to work hard with confidence and determination. As we know, homeschoolers often achieve great success in their lives, and at Nxt Era, we believe in YOU!
