4 Activities to Try with Your Homeschoolers This Spring

For many of us, we’re waiting not-so-patiently for spring to arrive. In the meantime, it can be a burden to wait for the beauty of blossoms and sunny skies. What can we do? Well, we can plan springtime activities and prepare for those warm, sunny days with our homeschoolers. 

• Plan springtime activities ahead of schedule. 
• Go on a picnic. 
• Study different flowers and try to find them outside.
• Go on a hike. 

Springtime Schedule

First, start the season before it’s started. What do I mean? Take time to schedule springtime activities with your homeschoolers while the winter season continues for these last few weeks. Sit down with your kiddos and discuss springtime activities that you would all enjoy doing together. Do you want to go on a hike or to a historical site? Should you try an outdoor art project or collect flowers for a memory book? Plan some fun ideas with your homeschoolers. 

Next, go on a picnic when the weather warms up. You can create a springtime theme or even incorporate a unit study into the picnic. Or enjoy time eating snacks and reading aloud with your kids. This is a fun way to get out of the house and enjoy making new memories. 

Continuing, study different flowers (or springtime plants) and go outside to hunt for them. This activity is very fun for younger kids, which keeps them engaged. Think of it as a seasonal treasure hunt. You can print off pictures from the web and try to hunt for the springtime blooms together. 

Finally, go on a hike. This is a great activity for families who enjoy getting in exercise, burning off some energy, and experiencing the outdoors. You can also take along some books to read on a break or pack a picnic to enjoy.
