3 Promises for Homeschool Parents (Your Homeschooler Will Perform Well in the Real World)

Jan 12, 2026

Have you ever wondered if your homeschooler will be prepared for the real world? Do you worry that you’re not doing enough as a homeschool parent? Will your homeschooler perform well in the real world? Well, as a former homeschooler who graduated in 2021, I’m here to tell you that all will be well. Your homeschooler will be just fine.

And I have the academic data and personal experience to prove it.

  • Your homeschooler will thrive.
  • Your homeschooler can chase their dreams.
  • Your homeschooler can experience more of life.

Let’s Get This Straight

From personal experience, I know that homeschoolers thrive after graduation. However, a 2021 study by Harvard proves this true. Interestingly, the study said, “Congruent with prior studies [31], homeschoolers in this sample (versus those at public schools) were more likely to report subsequently greater character strengths and fewer risky health behaviors.”

Later, the study states, “In addition, there has been some prior research on homeschooling versus institutional schooling for a number of student outcomes, with homeschooling associated with greater civic engagement [24], less alcohol and drug use [25,26], better sleep [27], equal or better mental health and well-being [2831] and equal or better social-emotional skills [24,31,32].”

Although the study shows some negatives of homeschooling, overall, it shows that homeschoolers thrive and perform well in the real world. In addition, the study explained that homeschoolers who came from an organizational learning approach scored “modestly higher…compared to their peers at public schools.”

According to a study by Brian D. Ray, “The majority of peer-reviewed studies on academic achievement reveal a positive effect for the homeschooled students compared to institutional schooled student.” Thus, again, showing that typically homeschoolers perform well.

Stepping away from these studies, I want to share my personal experience. I do not share any of this to boast. I’m just sharing hard facts. Many of my homeschooling buddies have now entered successful careers and chased their dreams. I graduated from Regent University with my bachelor’s degree in Communications. I achieved a 4.0 GPA during my time at Regent and carried it for all four years.

Thus, homeschoolers can perform well and chase their dreams.

Because of homeschooling, my friends and I were able to pursue our interests, which led to successful jobs, which led to performing well, which led to successful lives. Your homeschooler can dive into their interests, gain knowledge, and show up with grit and determination.

You can help them on this journey and help them prepare for their chosen career field. If they don’t know their potential career field, homeschooling gives you the flexibility to pursue this together.

Conclusion

All in all, homeschooling prepares your child for the real world and will help them perform well. They will be equipped and ready to move forward. You can help them and succeed together as a family. How do I know?

Because, praise God, my family and I did it together.
