3 Ideas to Earn Money as a Homeschool Parent
Nov 12, 2025Likely, you want to homeschool or have started homeschooling if you’re reading this blog post. However, financials can become a major hindrance for families. These days, most families can’t live off one income. This can put a halt to homeschooling for families or quickly become a major stressor for the home environment.
Don’t despair! We have three suggestions to help you earn money at home as a homeschool parent. These ideas include:
- Start a business.
- Tutor for other homeschooling families.
- Work online (proofreader, virtual tutor, personal assistant, etc).
Further Explanation
For idea #1, you can start an at-home business. You could start your own bake shop or simply sell produce. With these two ideas, you can involve your homeschooling family in the process as well. Recently, I chatted with a homeschooling family that manages a clothing/knitting company. You could also create resources for homeschooling families, such as STEM kits, language guides, or outdoor activity packets. What do you like? Use your passions to fuel your business.
For idea #2, you can tutor homeschooling families at your home. If you are gifted in certain subjects (or many), perhaps you might like to help other homeschooling families and share your gifts with others. You could charge for your services, but still teach at home.
For idea #3, you could find an online job or even start your own online business. I have personal experience working online. I’ve worked online for several different people. Every time, I learn so many new things and expand my connections.
I highly suggest using social media to find new opportunities. For instance, I worked previously for two authors as a personal assistant. If you want to start your own business, advertise your skills as an assistant or proofreader. You could also become a virtual tutor. Whatever the case, utilize online networks, such as Instagram or LinkedIn, to help you!
Conclusion
In conclusion, employ your talents and skills to help you land a job. Online networking or local networking can help. Contact your local library or homeschool groups to find opportunities. Get creative and remember the question: What do you like? Hone your passions to help your family in your homeschooling journey. Think of your goal to homeschool your family and work toward success.
